The European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA), sat down together with the 50 of the industry's top CEOs for a discussion and round table in Valencia, Spain at the European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition, to redefine industry objectives given recent technology progress and rising energy prices. The members of this meeting agreed that PV solar energy could provide 12% of European electricity demand by 2020.

The goal will be reached progressively from 2010 onwards in several European markets. Countries with the highest solar irradiation and higher electricity prices, for example Italy and Spain, have the potential to reach it in 2010 and 2012, respectively.
